Last year in Costa Rica, I stayed in hotels in San Jose and in Manuel Antonio. It was very comfortable, especially when I got sick, but I missed out on a POWERFUL cultural experience. So this year I will be staying with
families - one in San Pedro (a suburb of San Jose) and one in Quepos, near Manuel Antonio National Park. In order to express my appreciation to the families, particularly to the Mothers of the families (se llama "MAMA TICA") I am carving each a decorative cross like the one shown here.
